President Tatar: “The Justice of the World Is a Poisoned Apple”

President Ersin Tatar has made a statement regarding the support of the United States to the attack of Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Whilst strongly criticising the global understanding of justice, President Tatar emphasised the position and determination of the Turkish Cypriot people.

“This has once again shown that we live in an unjust world”

In reference to the US-backed Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, President Tatar said: “The fact that the US supported Israel's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has once again shown how unjust the world we live in truly is.”

An arrogant mentality of ‘I can have it, but you cannot’

President Tatar drew attention to the global double standards and warned that such an attitude is "dragging the world towards a  catastrophe".

“The arrogant mentality that says ‘I can have it, but you cannot’ and the belief that ‘I am entitled to this right, but you are not,’ have brought the world to the brink of a third world war. Our expectation and wish is for the tool of diplomacy to be engaged as soon as possible.”

“The Western world fails to go beyond condemnation”

Criticising the silence of the international community, President Tatar pointed to the tragedy unfolding in Gaza.

"We must not forget that we live in a world where might makes right, and where no Western or Muslim country goes beyond mere condemnation. This is most painfully evident in the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza," President Tatar said.

“Our Southern neighbour is no different from Israel”

President Tatar underlined the threats faced by the Turkish Cypriot people from the Greek Cypriot side, adding: “As the Turkish Cypriot people, we are well aware that our Southern neighbour is no different from Israel. We face a ruthless mentality that sees us as a minority on this island, refuses to accept us as equals, and—just like what is happening to Palestinians in Gaza—would eliminate us in our own homeland at the first opportunity.”

“We will not accept the Poisoned Apple”

Stating that surrendering to so-called international justice would be a grave mistake, President Tatar urged Turkish Cypriots to continue to uphold their political will.

“If we place our hopes in the so-called justice of this world and surrender ourselves, we would be accepting not our rightful claims, but the Poisoned Apple constantly offered to us under the guise of peace and happiness," the President said.

“We Will Shape Our Future with Our Own Hands”

Concluding his remarks,  President Tatar emphasised the independent stance and future vision of the Turkish Cypriot people, stating: “As the Turkish Cypriot people, we are not bound by the scripts written by others. With our own will, unity, and determination, we will continue on our path. True peace and security can only be achieved when we stand firm in defending our will and our rights. We will shape our future, not with designs imposed by others, but with our own hands and our shared determination.”
