President Ersin Tatar takes part in the ceremony held at Boğaz Martyrs' Cemetery on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of July 20 Peace and Freedom Day
President Ersin Tatar, who signed the Martyrs' Cemetery Special Book, emphasised that the "Turkish Cypriot people have never forgotten and will never forget the sacred martyrs who fell for the freedom, independence, and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Your legacy will never be violated and will be honored forever".
The ceremony was held today at 6pm at the Boğaz Martyrs' Cemetery with the laying of wreaths in accordance with protocol order. After a moment of silence and a ceremonial gun salute, the flags were raised to the national anthem. During the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar signed the Martyrs' Cemetery Special Book.
President Tatar emphasised once again that the Turkish Cypriot people have never forgotten and will never forget the sacred martyrs who fell for their freedom, independence, and sovereignty, stating:
"If today we are living freely and with our heads held high in our own homeland and our own State, we owe it to your sacrifices."
President Tatar also wrote the following in the Martyrs' Cemetery Special Book:
"The labour and struggle you gave at the cost of your lives to bring the Turkish Cypriot people to this day will always be remembered with gratitude and appreciation.
On the 51st anniversary of the July 20 Peace Operation, we bow in respect before your spiritual presence. Rest in peace — your legacy will never be forgotten and will be kept alive forever. May your souls rest in peace."
